Global Market: Wellington, Vanguard, Blackstone launch hybrid public-private investment funds for wealthy clients

Wellington Management, Vanguard and Blackstone have partnered to launch two investment funds that combine public and private market assets, targeting high-net-worth and mass-affluent investors as asset managers seek to broaden access to alternative investments beyond institutional clients, Reuters reported.

The two funds will be available to Merrill and Bank of America Private Bank clients through their financial advisors.

The first fund, the WVB All Markets Fund, will combine public equities, fixed income and index strategies managed by Wellington and Vanguard with Blackstone’s private market investments. The second, the WVB Blackstone All Privates Fund, will provide investors with exposure across Blackstone’s private equity, private credit, infrastructure and real estate platform.

The launch comes as asset managers increasingly target wealthy individual investors to drive fundraising, particularly as traditional institutional investors such as pension funds have slowed commitments amid a challenging exit environment for private assets.

Reuters reported that global wealth held by high-net-worth individuals rose to $98.3 trillion by the end of 2025, citing data from Capgemini, underscoring the expanding pool of potential investors for private market products.

The move also follows efforts by policymakers, including the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump, to expand investor access to private markets.
The new products arrive at a time when some wealthy investors have reduced allocations to private credit and certain private equity funds due to concerns over asset valuations and heavy exposure to software companies that could face disruption from advances in artificial intelligence.Industry executives have maintained that recent withdrawals from private credit funds reflect investor sentiment toward the asset class rather than deterioration in underlying fund performance. Reuters noted that in several instances, redemption requests exceeded the percentage of capital that fund managers typically allow investors to withdraw each quarter.

To manage liquidity, the WVB All Markets Fund plans to repurchase up to 10% of its outstanding shares every quarter, while the WVB Blackstone All Privates Fund intends to offer quarterly repurchases of up to 3% of outstanding shares.

Despite moderation in inflows into some private credit strategies, Blackstone has continued to see healthy demand for private equity products. Blackstone President Jon Gray had previously said private equity generated strong inflows in June, highlighting continued investor interest in the asset class.
