Ravens Urged to Swing Trade with Dolphins Involving Former First-Round Pick

The Ravens could look to swing a pre-draft trade with the Dolphins involving linebacker Chop Robinson

The Baltimore Ravens have had a wild start to the offseason, and with the 2026 NFL Draft drawing near, it seems like the front office isn’t done making moves just yet. Armed with the No. 14 overall pick (which they did not end up trading to the Las Vegas Raiders in exchange for superstar defensive lineman Maxx Crosby), there are several different avenues the team could take when it comes to this selection.

Even after missing the playoffs in 2025, the Ravens will be entering the upcoming season with Super Bowl expectations. Having a pick in the middle of the first round gives the front office a unique opportunity to add an immediate contributor for the team in 2026 and beyond. However, they could end up turning that pick into two impact players if they were to make a unique trade with the Miami Dolphins involving a former first-round pick, linebacker Chop Robinson.

Baltimore is expected to look to add some help on the defensive side of the ball in the first round of the draft, regardless of what they end up doing with the No. 14 overall pick. Again, we nearly saw the team send this pick to the Raiders in exchange for Crosby, but they pivoted and opted to sign Trey Hendrickson to a four-year, $112 million contract in free agency.

Even with Hendrickson in town, the Ravens could still use help when it comes to their pass-rushing department. That’s where Robinson, the No. 21 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, could come into play. After enjoying a strong rookie campaign in 2024, Robinson didn’t do much in 2025, as he picked up just 21 tackles, four sacks, one pass breakup, and one forced fumble in 15 games of action.

Miami has been aggressive in trading away key players this offseason in exchange for draft capital, but this time around, they could move Robinson in an effort to move up the board. Bill Barnwell of ESPN recently proposed that the Dolphins send Robinson and the No. 30 overall pick to the Ravens in exchange for the No. 14 overall pick, and he explained why he believes this deal would make sense for Baltimore.

“New Ravens coach Jesse Minter has a recent track record of turning around promising young edge rushers who disappointed with their prior teams,” Barnwell wrote. “Robinson would step into a rotation with second-year defender Mike Green across from free agent addition Trey Hendrickson. And the Ravens would owe Robinson only about $5 million over the next two years, which would be a very reasonable total for an organization under a serious cap crunch.”

Should the Ravens Trade for Chop Robinson?

The 2026 draft class isn’t exactly considered top-heavy, and depending on how the board shakes out, the Ravens could find themselves in a tough spot when they are on the clock with the No. 14 pick. If they aren’t in love with anyone available, they could conceivably trade back, and in this scenario, they would pick up a talented young pass rusher who simply hasn’t found his way in the NFL yet.

Pairing Robinson up with Hendrickson and Mike Green gives Baltimore a potentially dangerous trio, especially if Green and Robinson can both take a step forward when they return to action. There’s no guarantee that the Ravens will want to move off of this pick, especially after their deal for Crosby fell apart, but if they do, picking up Robinson while moving down the board wouldn’t be a bad piece of business.
