Seahawks interested in trading for Browns’ historic $160 million two-time DPOY, per report

Seahawks interested in trading for Browns’ historic $160 million two-time DPOY, per report originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.

The Seattle Seahawks’ reliable quarterback play and run game were integral to the franchise’s Super Bowl-winning 2025-26 campaign.

That said, it also helped that Seattle possessed a top-10 defense, surrendering 193.9 passing yards and 91.9 rushing yards per game. With the offseason in full swing, it goes without saying that the Seahawks want to continue bolstering that side of the ball to improve their chances of repeating as Super Bowl champions in 2026-27.

According to a recent trade rumor involving the Seahawks, the franchise has expressed interest in the Cleveland Browns’ historic two-time Defensive Player of the Year (he broke the all-time single-season sack record last season).

“According to a source close to the#Seahawks, GM John Schneider spoke with Browns GM Andrew Berry about the possibility of trading for DE Myles Garrett,” Seahawks Forever’s Dan Viens reported Friday. “The source added it was a ‘serious inquiry,’ but a trade isn’t imminent.”

Garrett’s refusal to participate in the Browns’ offseason program has many speculating about what could be behind the five-time All-Pro Defensive end’s surprising decision.

The future Hall of Famer inked a four-year, $160 million contract extension with Cleveland in March and is expected to be a key contributor on the organization’s 2026-27 squad.

Still, that didn’t stop Seattle from inquiring about arguably the most dominant pass rusher in football, and with the Seahawks coming off a Super Bowl victory, it isn’t too far-fetched an idea.

It’s unlikely the Browns will move on from Garrett anytime soon, though, which should help Seattle refrain from getting its hopes up.
