BOAC, Marinduque (PIA) — A proposed farm-to-market road in Barangay Balagasan in Boac town is expected to deliver long-term benefits to farmers and residents, with local officials citing its potential to improve productivity and stimulate economic growth.
The project, currently under consultation by the local government unit (LGU) of Boac, is designed to enhance access between agricultural areas and main trading centers, easing the transport of goods and reducing travel time.
Boac Mayor Armi DC. Carrion said the initiative forms part of the municipality’s broader push to strengthen rural infrastructure and support the agricultural sector.
She noted that once completed, the road will not only benefit farmers through faster and more efficient delivery of produce but also improve mobility for residents in nearby communities.
The consultation, facilitated by the Department of Agriculture (DA), also ensured that stakeholders including affected lot owners were informed of the project’s scope and given the opportunity to share their concerns.
The mayor added that community participation remains key to the project’s success with assurances that issues raised during consultations will be addressed.
“With infrastructure seen as a key driver of rural development this farm-to-market road will contribute to sustained economic activity and improved livelihoods in Barangay Balagasan and surrounding areas,” she said. (Monica Magalang-GIP/KL/AS/JBG/PIA MIMAROPA-Marinduque)
