Apart from the many blockbuster moves in the 2026 offseason, there was one massive story that made the headlines, and that was the Los Angeles Clippers‘ controversy with Kawhi Leonard and Aspiration.

While the initial report about the controversy was released a year earlier, the resolution finally came almost exactly a year later. The Clippers were handed a hefty suspension, while Leonard got away with a pretty modest fine, considering his massive NBA salary.
Stephen Curry accepts how Adam Silver and the NBA punished the Clippers
As one of the NBA’s faces, Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors has spoken about what happened between the Clippers and the NBA. Like many others, he is an outsider in this situation, so he agrees with the fact that the reports were proven to be true, and the Clippers deserved the punishment.
Whether or not the degree of punishment is deserved, it seems that Curry is not talking about that part because nothing would come out of him giving his opinion.

However, he does accept that NBA Commissioner Adam Silver laid down the hammer for the Clippers, owner Steve Ballmer, and the executives who were involved in the situation.
“I wasn’t surprised. The reason the investigation took as long as it did was the idea that Steve Ballmer, who I’ve gotten to know, was standing by the punishment, so there is a reason that’s happened how it did. Adam Silver had a job to do, and I think the punishment makes sense, and we all move forward,” Curry said to CNBC about the Clippers situation.
Salary cap circumvention is a massive offense, and the Clippers are paying for it with draft picks, heavy fines, and suspensions. It will be a landmark punishment for the league and will discourage other teams from doing it.
