Dunamu is partnering with Visa to develop stablecoin-based payments and global remittance businesses. The companies also plan to expand the alliance into next-generation payments, including agentic commerce, in which artificial intelligence handles everything from product discovery to purchases and payment on a user’s behalf.

Dunamu, the operator of Upbit, said Aug. 28 that it signed a strategic partnership with Visa focused on stablecoins and AI-based next-generation finance and payments.

The companies unveiled a detailed roadmap for the partnership on Aug. 27 at Visa’s Global Market Support Center in San Francisco. Attendees included Dunamu Chief Executive Officer Oh Kyung-seok and Oliver Jenkyn, Visa’s global president. Earlier, Dunamu and Visa Worldwide Pte. Limited, Visa’s Asia-Pacific unit, signed the strategic partnership.

The partnership centers on combining Dunamu’s digital-asset technology with Visa’s global payments network to identify new financial services, including stablecoin-based payments and global remittances. The companies plan to flesh out the business in stages in line with applicable laws and regulatory requirements, based on stability, transparency, interoperability and compliance.

Real-world payment applications for stablecoins are also a core area of cooperation. The companies will explore payment services linked to stablecoins and digital assets in major global markets, while reviewing ways to expand their use into global remittances, payments and settlement.

They will also examine business models using OUSD under the recently disclosed Open Standard. The goal is to connect stablecoins with existing global finance and payments infrastructure and broaden real-world use cases for digital assets.

The companies will also work together in AI-based payments. They plan to jointly develop new services and business models that combine AI with stablecoin-based payment and settlement infrastructure. Areas under review include agentic commerce, in which AI searches for goods or services and completes purchases and payments for users, as well as the technology, infrastructure and ecosystem needed for AI payments.

“The spread of AI, stablecoins and tokenization is a key trend that will change how finance and commerce operate,” Oh said. “Through cooperation with Visa, a leader in global payments, we will connect digital assets with traditional finance and create a new global financial experience that users can feel.”
