ETH, SOL, XRP May Gain More Than Bitcoin if US Senate Advances CLARITY Act

  • If the U.S. Senate passes a procedural vote on the CLARITY Act, major altcoins such as ETH, SOL and XRP could benefit more than Bitcoin.
  • TDX Strategies said passage of the procedural vote could help Bitcoin break above the $82,000 resistance level and rise to $88,000-$90,000, while failure could trigger a pullback to $73,000.
  • Analysts said ETH, SOL, XRP, UNI and AAVE could benefit if regulatory clarity improves access to traditional finance and conditions for product launches, though this vote could still prove to be only a short-term catalyst.

Ethereum, Solana and XRP could benefit more than Bitcoin if the U.S. Senate clears a procedural vote on the CLARITY Act, according to an analysis cited by CoinDesk on September 15.

The Senate is scheduled to vote later on September 15 on whether to continue deliberations on the CLARITY Act, a bill on crypto market structure. Tim Sun, a senior researcher at HashKey Group, put the odds of the procedural vote passing at about 50% and the chances of the bill becoming law this year at less than 20%.

TDX Strategies said an unexpected passage of the procedural vote could lift Bitcoin above resistance at $82,000 and drive it to $88,000 to $90,000. If the measure fails, Bitcoin could retreat to about $73,000.

Altcoins, however, may see the bigger relative benefit. Bitcoin already has a comparatively established regulatory status, spot exchange-traded funds and institutional infrastructure. By contrast, ETH, SOL and XRP could gain better access to the traditional financial system and improved conditions for product launches if the division of oversight between the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission becomes clearer.

Lacie Zhang, a research analyst at Bitget Wallet, said Ethereum may be the biggest beneficiary because it is used as a payment layer for stablecoins, decentralized finance and tokenized assets. DeFi tokens such as UNI and AAVE could also see increased volatility if rules for non-custodial software and decentralized protocols become clearer.

Still, the vote is only a procedural step rather than final passage of the bill. A rally that quickly fades would suggest the move was driven only by a short-term catalyst, analysts said. A sustained rise in the ETH/BTC ratio and stronger spot trading volumes would be needed to signal a broader market re-rating.
