The 2026 Asian Meeting of the Econometric Society (AMES
2026) officially opened in Hanoi on July 31, gathering nearly 300 researchers
and scholars from around 30 countries and territories.
The conference serves not only as a leading platform for
academic exchange in econometrics and economics but also as an important venue
for translating theoretical research into practical applications. Organizers
said the event aims to foster evidence-based policymaking and contribute to
shaping macroeconomic policies amid an increasingly uncertain global
environment.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Nguyen Hoang, president of Thuong Mai
University, said scientific forums such as AMES play an important role in
connecting researchers and providing evidence-based policy recommendations as
countries respond to geopolitical uncertainty, digital transformation,
artificial intelligence and the transition to greener economies.
