Have your say: Help shape the North-east’s economic story

Despite tentative signs of improving confidence, North-east businesses continue to face significant economic challenges.

The latest Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce (AGCC) Quarterly Economic Survey (Q2 2026) found that 44% of firms expect profitability to fall over the next 12 months, while only 24% anticipate an improvement. Businesses also remain cautious about investment and recruitment as they navigate a challenging economic environment.

As the next Quarterly Economic Survey (Q3) launches today, Research Chamber is inviting businesses of all sizes and sectors to share their experiences and outlook.

For more than 35 years, the Quarterly Economic Survey has been the UK’s largest independent survey of business sentiment. Conducted every quarter by Chambers of Commerce across the UK, it provides an early indication of economic conditions and is closely watched by the Bank of England, the UK and Scottish governments, and policymakers. Here in the North-east, the findings help shape AGCC’s policy work and provide a trusted evidence base on the issues affecting our regional economy.

Alongside the core questions on sales, recruitment, investment, cash flow and business confidence, this quarter’s survey will continue to track businesses’ optimism about Aberdeen’s future and explore key regional issues affecting the North-east economy.

Whether your business is growing, adapting or facing new challenges, your views matter. Every response helps build a clearer picture of the region’s economy and strengthens the evidence used to influence decision-makers on behalf of the North-east business community.

The survey takes just 5 minutes to complete, and all responses are confidential. Make sure your business is part of the conversation.
