Linklaters has appointed Alun Evans as a partner in its corporate practice in Singapore, bringing the veteran M&A lawyer back to the firm as it continues investing in high-end transactional capabilities across Asia. Evans is expected to rejoin Linklaters in August.

He has more than 20 years of experience advising on mergers and acquisitions and joint ventures throughout the Asia-Pacific region.

His practice has focused heavily on private capital investors and corporate clients pursuing complex, multi-jurisdictional investments and transactions.

Evans’ sector experience spans digital infrastructure, broader infrastructure, energy transition, healthcare, consumer markets, and financial services.

Linklaters sees his appointment as particularly relevant to its work with financial sponsors and other private capital investors across Southeast Asia.

The firm also expects Evans’ experience to strengthen its ability to advise on transactions involving India and other important Asian markets.

His practice aligns with several areas Linklaters has identified as strategic priorities, including sophisticated M&A, private capital, infrastructure, and energy transition and ESG-related work.

The addition comes as global private equity and infrastructure investors continue pursuing opportunities requiring coordination across several jurisdictions, financing structures, regulatory regimes, and industry sectors.

Linklaters believes Evans’ experience handling these transactions will complement its integrated regional and global platform.

The firm also expects the appointment to deepen its relationships with clients deploying capital throughout Southeast Asia while strengthening its ability to handle cross-border and cross-practice mandates.

KEY QUOTES:

“Alun’s arrival underlines our commitment to continuously invest in exceptional legal talent to serve our clients’ needs in this fast-paced market. Alun will further strengthen our market-leading position in the region and enhance our ability to support the ambitions of our M&A and private capital clients in Southeast Asia and beyond.”

Betty Yap, Partner, Asia Head of Corporate and Global Co-Head of Financial Sponsors at Linklaters

“I am delighted to welcome Alun back to the Firm. I am confident that he will be a fantastic addition to our integrated Asia and wider global platform with deep experience in key Southeast Asia markets, India and beyond.”

“Alun’s areas of expertise are directly aligned with our strategic priority areas of high-end M&A, private capital, energy transition/ESG and infrastructure and will further enhance our credibility for cross border and cross practice mandates.”

William Liu, Chair of Asia at Linklaters
