Private Equity Eyes Sale of GLP-1 Device Maker Nemera

Strategic Review Underway

Astorg and Montagu are in preliminary talks to offload their stake in Nemera, sources close to the situation revealed. The French company, a key supplier of delivery systems for GLP-1 therapies, may attract bids near the €3 billion mark.

Nemera designs and produces drug administration devices such as auto-injectors, inhalation systems, ocular dispensers, and infusion pumps. Its technologies enable treatments from industry leaders like Novo Nordisk and Eli Lilly. With facilities across the U.S., Europe, and Brazil, the company is scaling operations to address rising global demand.

Weight-Loss Drug Boom Drives Valuation

The private equity owners have retained financial advisors to assess exit opportunities, with a formal auction expected later this year. LGT Capital Partners acquired a minority position in 2023, though terms remain undisclosed.

The explosive growth of GLP-1 medications has created tailwinds for supporting industries. Although pill-based alternatives are in development, injectable therapies currently lead the market – a trend that benefits Nemera’s reusable pen systems. These devices generate consistent revenue through replacement cartridges and maintenance services.

Expansion and Market Positioning

Nemera’s August 2026 production roadmap indicates strategic investments to meet pharmaceutical partners’ needs. The company’s expertise in precision dosing and patient-friendly designs makes it a critical link in the weight-loss treatment ecosystem.

Industry analysts note that device manufacturers with GLP-1 partnerships are trading at premium multiples. “The recurring nature of these revenue streams is particularly attractive to long-term investors,” said a healthcare sector banker familiar with similar transactions.

Regulatory and Competitive Landscape

As weight-loss treatments transition from novelty to mainstream care, regulatory scrutiny of delivery systems is intensifying. Nemera’s ISO-certified facilities and compliance track record could differentiate it in a competitive sale process.

Representatives for Astorg and Montagu did not respond to requests for comment. Any transaction would signal private equity’s confidence in ancillary healthcare businesses amid the GLP-1 gold rush.

The potential sale underscores how drug delivery technology has become a high-value niche. With patients likely to use these therapies for years, manufacturers like Nemera are positioned for sustained growth alongside their pharmaceutical clients.
