Here are a selection of planning applications in Sunderland that are awaiting a decision, as they are currently in the process of being considered by the council.
  1. Land at the former Civic Centre, Burdon Road, Sunderland, SR2 7DN: Partial discharge of condition 16 (Verification report) attached to planning application 24/00285/VAR for plots 89, 90, 91, 92, 93, 94, 103, 104, 105, 132, 133, 134, 135, 136, and 137.
  2. Northumbrian Water Ltd Sewage Disposal Works, Sedgeletch Road, Houghton-le-Spring: Formal screening opinion to confirm the requirement for an Environmental Impact Assessment (‘EIA’) to accompany the proposed works to upgrade the existing sewage treatment facility, and to install a 3km below ground sewer transfer pipeline to a new outfall into the River Wear.
  3. Land South West Of Herrington Country Park, Chester Road, Penshaw, Sunderland: Discharge of Schedule 5, Part 1.3 (Open Space Management Plan) of Section 106 Referenced 20/02027/HE4.
  4. Smee 18, The Green, Washington Village, Washington, NE38 7AB: Erection of first floor extension above existing single storey extension and loft conversion with dormer window to front, including additional cladding.
  5. Flat Grey Horse Inn, Penshaw Lane, Houghton-le-Spring, DH4 7ER: Redecoration and colour change to facades and elevations and external repairs to windows.
  6. Land At Springwell Road, Springwell, Gateshead: Demolition of former bus stop and W/C block.
  7. 54 Hunter Terrace, Sunderland, SR2 8SA: Erection of a two storey extension to side with single storey extensions to front and rear. Erection of dormer windows to rear.
  8. 6 Aireys Close, Houghton-le-Spring, DH4 5QA: Proposed garage conversion to include new roof.
  9. 2 Wigham Terrace, Houghton-le-Spring, DH4 7EG: Erection of single storey rear extension and associated steps, erection of front canopy and ground floor single storey front extension with associated first floor balcony, alterations to front windows and existing rear kitchen roof.
  10. 12 Thornhill Crescent, Sunderland, SR2 7AD: Change of use of dwelling house into three self-contained flats.
  11. Offerton Grange Farm, Offerton Lane, Sunderland, SR4 9JL: Proposed construction of padel facility with associated parking.
  12. Peel Centre, Spire Road, Glover, Washington: Non material amendment to approval 21/02091/VAR (Variation of condition 2 (plans) relating to approved application 20/02061/FUL to allow for minor alterations to site layout and car parking.) To update approved plans in order for minor alterations to site layout and car parking.
  13. Mill Garages (Audi), Stadium Way, Sunderland, SR5 1AT: Discharge of condition 3 (pre-occupation: fixed external plant) attached to 23/01267/FUL.
  14. Land At Castletown Way/Riverside Road, Sunderland, SR5 3JF: Discharge of condition 16 (Boundary Enclosure) attached to planning application 14/00292/OUT.

  17.   18. 9 Longlands Drive, Houghton-le-Spring, DH5 8LR: \u0009Crown lift Lime trees 1 – 4 to 4.5m and prune to clear the property giving a gap of 3m.
  19. 3 Willington Close, Hetton-le-Hole, Houghton-le-Spring, DH5 9GG: Proposed bay window to front elevation.
  20. Land South Of Glebeside, Church Road, Hetton-le-Hole, Houghton-le-Spring: Erection of 4no bed dormer bungalow with attached garage.
  21. Chapelgarth South Of Weymouth Road, Sunderland: Variation of condition 1 (Approved Plans) of planning permission ref. 25/00897/VAR (relating to previous approval 23/02056/LR4 pursuant to planning permission 20/02265/VA4 (16/00388/HY4) to allow for amendments to layout to reflect a rebranding initiative. (Phase 4)) to allow for alterations to shared road surfacing.
