President Bill Clinton welcomes Prime Minister Zhu Rongji (left) to the White House on April 8, 1999, in Washington. Zhu, who played a pivotal role in guiding his country toward a market-based economy in the 1990s and subsequently into the World Trade Organization, died Wednesday, Aug. 12, in Beijing. He was 97.
