If you were hoping the White House might spend its time dealing with the small stuff like an economy under pressure, a cost-of-living crisis, a war with Iran and a bond market increasingly resembling a shopping trolley with one wobbly wheel, don’t worry. They’ve made an arcade. That’ll keep everyone happy, or at least distracted.
CNN and AP report that the Trump administration has launched a collection of five arcade-style games on the official White House website, because apparently the appropriate response to geopolitical instability is to insert a coin.
One of the games, Rio Run, is essentially Snake, except instead of eating apples, players control an icon resembling Trump chasing migrants along the Rio Grande, “patrolling the line” and picking up every “crosser”. Catch them and they join your deportation conga line.
Then there’s Build the Wall, a Tetris-style affair in which players stack bricks and “hold the line” against a “zombie border siege”.
Because nothing says “serious about immigration policy” quite like GAME OVER: BORDER BREACHED.
There are five games in total, including Supply Line, where players reject food that doesn’t meet “Make America Healthy Again” standards on a moving assembly line, and Trump Savings Tycoon, which has players catching cash and diamonds to fill kids’ Trump Accounts.
CAN’T STOP WINNING.
Build the wall. Deport. Fill a Trump Account.

While everyone is having a blast with the games, the US has rather more consequential things to worry about.
The Iran war continues to rattle energy markets, with oil pushing towards $100 a barrel and adding pressure to global economies and borrowers. US Treasury yields have been steadily climbing as investors worry about inflation, government debt and the longer-term fiscal picture.
The Treasury market itself, on which much of the American financial system depends, has also been showing some fairly uncomfortable signs of strain.
But hey, don’t think about that. Go for a record 147 deportations on Rio Run!
Not everyone in the US has taken a sip of the idiot-coolaid, and several comments following the release of the games have questioned the administration’s priorities given the Iran war and high cost of living. A White House official, however, told CNN that “this is an effort to further contrast between a culture of fun and winning and the dark socialist vision Democrats have for America.”
Quite. Who wants affordable housing and healthcare when you have Build the Wall?
