Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty held separate meetings with Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Mohamed Farid and Minister of Planning and Economic Development Ahmed Rostom on Sunday to strengthen inter-ministerial coordination and support Egypt’s economic and development objectives.

Following his meeting with Abdelatty, Farid held an expanded meeting with Egyptian ambassadors recently transferred abroad to head diplomatic missions, focusing on promoting Egypt’s investment opportunities, attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) and opening new international markets for Egyptian exports.

The discussions addressed ways to strengthen institutional cooperation between Egyptian diplomatic missions and commercial representation offices, particularly in targeting promising markets, promoting investment opportunities and highlighting progress in improving Egypt’s investment climate and infrastructure.

Abdelatty stressed that promoting the Egyptian economy requires greater partnership and integration between Egyptian embassies and commercial offices.

“We are witnessing a significant improvement in the investment climate thanks to reforms and initiatives, as well as cooperation with commercial offices to achieve our investment attraction and trade development targets,” Abdelatty said.

For his part, Farid said the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade is working to safeguard Egypt’s trade and investment interests as a foundation for increasing exports and attracting investments that generate economic and social returns.

He added that the ministry is developing stakeholder maps covering global companies and factories whose activities align with Egypt’s development priorities, with the aim of targeting them through dedicated investment promotion plans.

Farid also pointed to improvements in Egypt’s macroeconomic indicators and stressed the importance of changing perceptions of investing in Egypt by highlighting opportunities across priority sectors.

Separately, Abdelatty received Rostom, with their meeting focusing on enhancing coordination to support economic development and strengthen integration among state institutions.

Following the meeting, Rostom met with Egyptian ambassadors to discuss the government’s objectives for improving the efficiency of public spending and investment and strengthening development-priority-based planning to maximise the economic and social returns of government projects.

The meeting also explored ways to leverage Egyptian diplomatic missions to strengthen economic and development partnerships with countries and international institutions, support investment attraction and development financing, and secure technical assistance for priority projects.

Rostom emphasised the importance of strengthening coordination between the two ministries to enhance engagement with development partners and international financial institutions and maximise the use of international financing initiatives and programmes.

He noted that such efforts would help ease financing burdens, support priority projects, promote available investment and development opportunities, and encourage partnerships with international investors.

The Minister also highlighted the importance of supporting Egyptian exports, expanding their access to international markets and empowering the private sector to increase its contribution to economic growth.

Both meetings underscored the government’s efforts to strengthen Egypt’s competitiveness and promote sustainable and inclusive economic growth in line with the objectives of Egypt Vision 2030.
